The 2017 100

It's Not WHAT You Do, It's How You DO It.

Unless my life sees some major changes this year, 2017 may mark the last list of 100!

It’s January 13th—I’ve spent nearly two weeks of my new year agonising over 100 items that matter enough to hit a list of goals and aspirations for the year ahead. And that’s a key difference from the lists that came before it.

Before it was a task list—I’d look around at everything that needed doing and jot it down, because my life would obviously be better with them out of the way.

But task lists aren’t inspiring. They’re not motivational. As a creative, that’s like dropping a pile of 100 things I dread on my lap and nagging myself to get ’em done by the year’s end.

Once I realised what I was doing to myself, so much so that I just went through my least successful year yet for my list, I knew I needed to make a change for 2017.

The 2017 100—It's Not WHAT You Do, It's How You DO It.—New Year, New Perspective

I’m particularly proud of the list I’ve put together for The 2017 100. I didn’t take any shortcuts—I wrote out 100 things that’d help me live the life I’d like to lead and prove instrumental along the path there. Rather than hurriedly scrawl out a list I’d likely ignore ’til December, I wrote one that I’d happily check off, knowing that each accomplishment would take me a step closer to a far better 2018. I feel like I’m finally getting it right this time, and I hope that shines through as you give it a look for yourself!

But that’s enough of my chatter—I’ve already made you wait long enough. Here for your consideration is The 2017 100—because it’s not what you do… it’s how you do it!

The 2017 100—It's Not WHAT You Do, It's How You DO It.—Casey Palmer, Ready for Action!

So no messing about this year—2017’s about goals in the truest sense of the word, and I’ll fiercely pursue it with every fibre of my being, because for perhaps the first time ever, this is a list bespoke for my life as I see it. It’s my roadmap for the one place I’m always trying to reach—my potential.

The 2017 100. Consume it. Contest it. Tell me what’s impossible. But do so expecting the best of me every step of the way, because it’s the only way I think I’ll hit my ultimate goal for 2018—not needing 100 items anymore!

I hope you’re all killing it in 2017, stay blessed, and until the next, I remain,

A great list! It’d be nice to hear about your read/watch /listen lists once you start crossing things off them.

I’m thrilled to see 77 and 78.

You’ve taught me a crapton about goal-setting. Will I actually do it? Probably not, but it’s comforting to see that a number of small things can have a big impact.

Ha — thanks, Li; despite two duplications that friends and family have pointed out (which means I’ll need to come up with two more goals to add to the list, *sigh*), it’ll definitely keep me busy this year! I’ve actually written up pretty lengthy lists of things to listen, read and watch — just need to get them ready for publishing ?

And yes, much as it may pain me, I can’t keep my insane pace forever, so I’ll look to do better at taking care of self this year. I’m sure you’ll hold me to it!

I love the list , did I miss the SEND OUT A REGULAR NEWSLETTER? LOL I AM OLD AND BLIND
love the goals .. of course getting rid of all the paper means not writing out everything by hand first. lol

Ha — yes, Jo, indeed getting the newsletter out more regularly is on the list; I’m working on finding a regular rhythm for the year so I can get everything done — just gotta fit it in ?

And funny that you should mention the paper — I actually lost a notepad this morning with answers I was filling out for another blogger’s questionnaire; hopefully this teaches me enough of a lesson to change my ways!

Thanks as always for your comments, Jo ?

One year I quit bitting my nails (haven’t gone back to that) and when I was pregnant I quit all caffeine (I went back to that believe me) Last yr when I ended up having emergency surgery I completely quit pop (hubby and I drank a 2L bottle a day)

This is a really big list.. Not such a bad idea to take things you want to do and wrote them down. Ottawa is the best for Canada Day Celebrations not only that the winterlude is also a ton of fun just to plan it on a nice day as sone can be real cold. Some of your list kinda related to things i should be doing such as see more of Ontario travel more. Thanks for sharing
