I fancy myself a bit of an audiophile. Not the super-pretentious sort who’ll only listen to music within a certain frequency range or pooh-pooh on those who don’t have thousands lying about for a premium home entertainment system, but with music playing such an important role in my life, I want it to sound good.

At home, it’s all about my audio-technica M50s that fit comfortably over my head while banging out the blog posts. While on the go, I prefer something a little more portable and use my Shure SE425s (because R.I.P. SE535s…), which combine dual drivers and a nice long cable to keep me from tying myself up—especially in the sardine can commute home, where all I want to do is vibe out a little before I get home to my kids and the real job I have when away from the office. (That’s parenting, for anyone who didn’t catch it.)

But what about the times you want to go wireless? When you’re working on getting the perfect beach body or biking around town enjoying the unseasonably warm weather we’re getting this winter?

That’s where the AfterShokz Bluez 2S comes in.

What do the AfterShokz Bluez 2S DO?

How AfterShokz's Bluez 2S Bluetooth Headphones Will Rock You to the BONE—Casual Wear on the Street

Last I remember using a Bluetooth headset, they were all the rage—these dinky earpieces you’d clip on your ear to let the world know you were far too busy to interact with it.

But things have come a long way since then, and AfterShokz is out to prove it has a premium, durable headset, with the wires often made synonymous with sound quality, lengthy strands of wires and insulation to get your favourite tunes from your devices to your eardrums.

Using patented bone conduction technology originally developed for military special operations and law enforcement 15 years ago (yes, you read that right), AfterShokz’s open ear design for the Bluez 2S is not only comfortable, but it also delivers sound through your cheekbones to your inner ears via mini vibrations, which gives you solid sound quality without removing the ambient noise awareness that comes in handy when you’re trying to do things like not get hit by traffic. It’s only been out for a number of months and retails for $99.99 USD—and better yet—one of you lucky readers will walk away with an AfterShokz Bluez 2S of your very own in the colour of your choice! The contest is open to Canadians aged 18+ outside of Quebec and runs until April 5th at 11:59 PM—may the odds ever be in your favour!

I already own numerous wired sets—since I basically can’t work without music in the background—but I’ve gotta say; I never saw bone conduction technology coming! The bone conduction technology would be way more comfortable for me to wear and Bone conduction is a safer way to listen. I would hear stereo music without blocking my ears

I find earbuds too painful to wear and even headphones after a bit start to hurt my ears and I am tethered by a cord, these would be perfection and allow me to enjoy my music and many many audio books!

I have never got on with earbuds as I cannot get them to stay in my ear and I have never liked to wear over the ear headphones as I am always worried that I might miss hearing something important so these AfterShokz Bluez 2S would be perfect for me!

I don’t seem to be able to use earbuds at all, they never seem to fit properly and normal headphones hurt my ears after a while, these sound to me like a perfect solution to my problem.

I would be gifting these to my husband as he tends to watch shows once we are in bed and it would help him hear better instead of just watching a screen with the volume right now to let me sleep. Thank you for the chance to win. 😀

These would help me because I find that earbuds always bug my ears so I give up wearing them. Love that they are wireless too.

Ears buds won’t stay in my Ears , its so annoying lol , the headphones would so make my life much easier thanks for the chance 🙂

I love that with these headphones, my ears would remain completely open to hear ambient sounds

I hate wearing earbuds! These bluetooth headphones would be a lot more comfortable to wear and the fact that they are wireless is even better 🙂

I really can’t stand to wear earbuds or over the ear headphones so I’m very curious to see if these are more comfortable for me.

These would be great. My current ones the wires always get tangled and right now I actually only have sound coming out from one side because one of the wires got pinched.

the use of bone conduction in hearing is elemental yet it’s not used in headphones. so adding it to the mix will certainly change what is heard. thanks

I really don’t like in the ear headphones and full over the ear I don’t want to wear while I am walking outside because I am afraid I won’t hear cars or other things arould me. I feel these bone conduction headphones would be a great compromise.

I’ve never tried them, so I’ll have to buy the marketing spiel.

I have never heard of headphones like this . . . an interesting concept — music and safety together!

I really dislike earbud quality and sometimes I want something smaller than full size over the ear phones.

I actually have bad ears so it would be interesting if this would work better for me allowing me to not have to turn the volume up as much.

because I love music and these headphones I’ll go crazy !! thank you for this opportunity!

I like the idea of bone conduction as when walking or running outside you would still be able to hear traffic etc unlike with earbuds. Sounds much safer.

I son’t like earbuds, they hurt my ears and they also keep falling off. This would be perfect.

I think not having to worry about wires and just focusing on working out and worry about getting things tangled up with headphones would be awesome.
