Be Flexible!

Today was originally going to be a day of relaxation. Then my friends got involved. Between hanging out at a Timothy’s Coffee, rocking it in a pick-up game of Ultimate (which was really cool, since some strangers asked me whether I’d want to join their team after seeing my skill at fence-vaulting) and adventuring around only to end up playing Catan: Cities & Knights, it was pretty busy! And now, I’m keying away on my BlackBerry while I make my way to a dodgeball wrap-up party. Flexibility is one of the keys to happiness. Letting things roll off of your shoulders when they don’t go exactly to plan. If you can do this, your life will be a whole lot easier.

I’ve been in numerous situations where I’ve needed to wait for something. Wait to be told to get downstairs for the bridal party. Wait an hour for a bus since I JUST missed one. Wait for this, wait for that. Though I COULD get stressed out and make a big fuss over not getting immediate gratification, is it worth it? How does moping improve my life? Does it make things occur any quicker? Or does it just make me miserable to be around?

The key is to be happy with where your life is—not convince yourself that you’ll be happier when your life reaches a certain point. Life will have its obstacles, complications, failures, disappointments, hurdles… there’s a ton that will happen, much of which I’m pretty sure you won’t see coming. But 99.999999% of your life will be the journey, so you may as well make the most of it 😊 Be flexible. Your life will thank you for it!
