Today I survived a tweetup the likes of which I’d never experienced beforeāa dance class.
Organized by the wonderful Christina, CDCTO (named for its location, the City Dance Corps Dance Studio) brought about 15 Tweeples together to strut their stuff in a Beginner Hip Hop dance class. But “Beginner” or not, let’s not forget that dance is serious work! Armed with nothing but the clothes on our backs, the drinks we brought to keep us nimbleāand of course, our trusty smartphonesāwe would go through a two-hour workout that would determine if we had what it took to keep up!
Despite everyone’s expectations. I know I was struggling. It’s one thing to run up and down a field and spectacularly block your opponents’ plays. It’s an entirely DIFFERENT matter to learn steps, practice them repeatedly while making sure to do it with 100% enthusiasm each and every time, and then perform all of them in the correct sequence. But perform we did and did it well! Our instructor KJ told us so! Here’s a look at the dance we did:
All in all, it was a good time. Everyone got something out of it, even if they didn’t make it out to post-workout food, drinks and server attitude galore from Java House down the street. (No, seriouslyāit felt like they went out of their way to not give a crap!) Next time Christina’s organizing an event, I suggest you pay attention, because you’ll probably get a lot more out of it than you expect! Exercise, good company, good times.

So glad you and the others enjoyed it. I’ve been dancing my whole. It’s nice to see others try it and loving it like I always have. Hope to be doing another #CDCTO soon. Maybe we’ll do a different class this time.
