Free-Writing!

So after a debaucherous bachelor party weekend which I promise you’ll never find out about, I find myself without a complete post to deliver. Sure, there’s a lot of ideas and partially-written posts lying around, but with a wedding that’s only twelve days away, taking care of errands around the house and trying to sort out what the heck’s going on around me—a blog post just didn’t come to me! (Though, I’ll have to make sure that some do, since I don’t want to be writing while on honeymoon, and I’m sure Sarah would prefer that I don’t either!)

So you get a free write—a dump of my thoughts as they come to me. I hope that it will be reasonably articulate.

The Future of My Blog!

It’s an interesting time in life right now, getting married and all. There’s lots going on with my job, with my identity and environment undergoing some major changes as well.

With over a third of the year out of the way, I think I’m a good ways from where I was when I started trying to take blogging more seriously—but I totally understand why people compare it to a full-time job of its own. To give you an idea of some of the things I’d love to do with the blog in the second half of the year:

  • re-design it to be more visually appealing and user-friendly
  • re-brand it to a larger overarching theme that can incorporate my love for annual sub-themes
  • get really ahead of the game by writing up many quality posts in advance
  • get a better idea of analytics and how to analyze them to make sure I’m catering to my audience

I mean, there’s a ton! It’s not like I can really accomplish any of this overnight, but I’m pretty sure the blog will be better for it if I take these seriously into consideration.

Also, with life improvement being such a broad topic, there’s so much I want to write about—but having written so much already, I worry at times about repeating past content. It’s gotten to the point where it’s time to get really practical with advice and seek the opinions of experts on the topics I blog about so that people can really get something from it.

Casey Palmer vs. Hakim Optical

But I do know, at least, that the blog is starting to have an effect. Let’s take a look at what came from my post about customer service. Hakim Optical, who hadn’t used their Twitter account for 119 days prior, just happened to start using it again and we engaged in dialogue:

Things like this excite me about the possibilities for the future of the blog—being able to communicate with others where it would usually be an inconvenience, or simply not possible.

Thanks for following so far, and tomorrow we resume with regular inspirational content 😉

Until then!
