One of the better things of Honesty Week has been the honest feedback Iāve been getting from my readers!
A recent comment was that in Day 1, I spoke about the problems Iām facing. Day 2 covered why I need to tackle the issues and some of the constraints behind doing the things I want to do. Day 3 gave some context behind why itās taken me so long to get a move-on with really dealing with all this stuff.
But WHAT is it that I actually want to do?
Through the year, Iāve left many of the projects I work on shrouded in mystery. But then I considered some of the posts Iāve made lately, and realized that I need to practice what I preach!
One of my big things has been figuring out what I can do to make the world better around me. I figure that by starting in Torontoāstarting small relative to the scope of the entire worldāI can make a bigger difference than if I try to create something meant to affect the entire world. So, from there I starting thinking about what I know and how I could use it to help others. What I came up with was this:
- From living life and having a keen interest in self-improvement, I know what it takes for a man to improve himself in this city. While I havenāt broken the secret formula that produces a Drake or Mike Myers, I at least know what it takes for a man to go from invisible to head-turning.
- Iāve had a lot of work experience for someone whoās not even 30 yetāof this, 6 ½ years were spent in banking. While we ALL make stupid financial mistakes at one time or another, I didnāt have to make them all myselfāI was lucky enough to see the problems that others caused for themselves, and was also there to help them get through them and rebuild their lives.
- Torontoās a big city with a lot to offer. Yet Iām guilty of doing the same thing that most other Torontonians I know doāif someone asks what there is to do in the city, I either tell them about the CN Tower and the SkyDome (I refuse to call it that other name…), or maybe some food places I like. But thereās SO MUCH MORE that we donāt give the time of day!
Three very different topicsārequiring three very different solutions.
Iāve been busy creating webspaces for each of them, but while Iām still not entirely sure how the āmansformationā project will end up, Iāve started to reach out to men whoāve got their act right in one area or another to start up a blog on the topic in 2012. With financial advice, Iām working with a friend to start up a series of seminars on how to do better with the money youāve got so you can GET moreāsince we all know that these days, funds arenāt the easiest to come by. And with the Guide to Toronto, Iām hoping that I can collaborate with others to put something together something like Zoomdoggleās Fun List NYC (https://bit.ly/oLE9fX) for Torontonians BY Torontonians. (And tourists if they know whatās good for them!)
So when you see me up in the wee hours of the night, thatās what Iām up to. Trying to take these three starter projects from mere ideas to reality. Building websites, putting information together, setting up meetings with interested parties and trying to build teams to spread the workload… and the love. Obviously.
Want it? Drop me a line. Sarah would love you for it so I could actually get some sleep for once!
