With a kid in the picture, I’m not spending like I used to. Restaurant lunches with friends and coworkers replaced by lunches carried to work in my reusable bag, and if you’re like me, you’re constantly on that hustle, eating at your desk more often than taking the time to make sure that what you’re eating is what your body needs.
While I’m a creature of habit and enjoy the sandwiches, puddings and fruits my wife lovingly packs, ensuring I don’t need to hit the office microwave or refrigerator to crush my efficiency (and let’s face it, they’re both disgusting), Maple Leaf Foods wanted to know whether I’d be interested in trying a snack of an entirely different nature.
I had no idea what I was in for!
PROTINIS™: A Lot of Protein in a Little Box!
The morning I crossed paths with PROTINIS™, I was on the way to the 9-5, stopped in my tracks by a UPS guy carrying a large styrofoam container.
Unfamiliar with goods shipped with freezer packs (and hoping I didn’t suddenly make any enemies deciding to come after me with biological warfare), I signed anyway, unaware of what I’d find inside.
Designed as a quick source of protein when you’re craving a snack, Maple Leaf Foods’ Natural Selections’ PROTINIS™ take an interesting approach with single-serve portions of chilled chicken—2 packages to a box; perfect for sharing—cooked in various sauces and some with a fruit side to complement.
We were 100% sceptical at first—I mean, come on: the chicken I know is usually fried or roasted on a rotisserie… who eats chicken cold? But PROTINIS™ would not be stymied, offering 8 flavours to make me change my mind, including:
- Oven Roasted Chicken
- Sweet Thai Chili Chicken
- Oven Roasted Chicken and Cranberry
- Mild Salsa Chicken
- Oven Roasted Chicken and Superfruit
- Honey Garlic Chicken
- Oven Roasted Chicken and Mango
- Oven Roasted Chicken and Apple
My initial reaction to PROTINIS™ was a surprised one—whenever I get meat out of a package (see: jerky), I usually expect a dry taste and texture as if I were chewing delicious, salty leather. But PROTINIS™ are moist and taste fresh, giving enough juiciness to work well with the dried fruit.
But of course, like everything Sarah packs, not only does it taste good, it’s good for me! Including complete proteins—the same you’d find in milk, eggs and meat—they slow down digestion to help you feel fuller, longer and they help to build and repair muscles and tissues.
If you’re going to snack, do it right and try one that’ll satisfy your craving!
Enjoy the flavour sensation,
Disclaimer: As shown above, I received payment and some PROTINIS™ for my time and effort on this post. The views are honest and with $2 off, the price is low, so go check it out for yourself if you don’t believe me! If you want to get in touch with Maple Leaf Foods, you can find them on both Facebook and Twitter! Happy snacking!

I love these Protinis for the kids lunches or for a quick snack I use the one with the salsa, on some nacho chips add some cheese, microwave and minute nachos!
These are SO delicious! They’re the perfect way to get plenty of protein each day. It’s the only way I can keep my energy up!
FINALLY-something healthy….and not centered around carbs. cue the angel music.
I am awful when it comes to lunch. I tend to avoid eating due to lack of time and options (GF eating SUCKS!). This looks like a great option! I love that it provides a burst of protein to help me complete my day!
Protinis are great to take to work for lunch! Easy way to add protein to any meal or snack
I LOVE that there is a snack that is all about protein! Never heard about it, but I am definitely curious to give it a try. Everything out there is carbs or sweet, when it comes to snacks so I’m pretty thrilled they came up with this!
I’ve tried them with the coupon, as I think $4 is a little pricey for what you get. They are pretty convenient for lunches though
