Of Figments and Fragments

Imagination is a powerful thing. It can make your senses pick up on things that don’t really exist. It can help you cope with a doldrum reality or convince yourself that a bad situation isn’t as horrible as you seem to think it is.

OR it can help you come up with a genuinely amazing idea.

Personally, that’s what I’m looking for in life; that “a-ha” moment where all the fragmented thoughts in life—the notes scribbled on scraps of paper, the “what if?” conversations with friends and confidants; the things you dream about but figure could never be pulled off in reality—the moment where they all come together to form something greater and reveal their true purpose.

Does your brain work like that? Do you have sketches, thoughts and works-in-progress all over the place yearning for attention and the chance to prove their worth?

IF you do, you should do something about it—but you already knew that. However—do you know WHY? Because you can keep letting the ideas come to you, and keep letting them pile up in notebooks or little meaningless files on your computer, but eventually you’ll have so much that you won’t know where to start to take care of it all.

And that’s where I’m at.

For all the tools out there that I’ve mentioned—mind maps, lists, flowcharts and daily planners—they don’t do you much good if you don’t have your thoughts sorted out.

And not only that—how do you sort out what actually matters from all the fluff? It’s a big world out there with a whole heap of content. These days, everyone’s a photographer/writer/actor/journalist—what hope do you have that the content you’ve created will stand out amongst the sheer volume of media that’s available out there?

There’s one truth that’s been around since before anyone can remember—YOU WON’T KNOW UNTIL YOU TRY.

So to each and every one of you out there—I implore of you: make your content. Spend time on it. Share it with the world. We’ve been plagued by half-ass attempts to make things happen, ideas never shared with the world for fear of the judgments of others, and projects left for dead due to a failed first attempt for too long! Get up off of your butts, and go MAKE SOMETHING.

You never know who your ideas will inspire to create something amazing of their own. So don’t hold back! Let the world know what you’ve got to share TODAY!!!
