If you get a solid eight hours of sleep every night, I’m pretty sure that you’ve never experienced the haze. That’s what I’m feeling right now — the haze that settles over you when you’re not quite asleep, but very much not awake — you’re somewhere in between, vaguely aware as time passes all around you. Some people chase after the feelings of calm and nonchalance that the haze can provide through using drugs or alcohol — for me, it all came down to an urgent presentation that was assigned late and due noon the next day.
No matter where you go in life; no matter what experience you have in the lands that pepper the face of this globe — you will be forever connected to your homeland. Whether that’s the place where you were born or the place where you spent a good deal of your life growing up, we look at these places with some degree of fondness — sometimes so much that we’re surprised by the word s that come out of our mouths!
While Batman & Robin was a horrible movie, they did get something right — the soundtrack. While little of it got much fanfare, it’s still enjoyable. It includes two Smashing Pumpkins songs that’re meant to be reflections of one another — “The Beginning is the End is the Beginning” and “The End is the Beginning is the End”. I think they hit the nail right on the head there — the end is the beginning is the end.
Today, I took some of my own advice and just enjoyed the day at hand. Between:
- Assembling a TV stand for Sarah;
- Going to Riverdale Farms to shoot wildlife; and
- Attending a surprise birthday party for my brother-in-law
