The 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship

Welcome to 2015!

A week in and I’m already a little behind, trying to put the finishing touches on The 2015 100 while a major project at the 9-5 threatens to encroach on my personal time and is making the juggling act harder than ever. Sarah sees me at it nightly, piles of notes strewn about the desk as I struggle to mould it all into coherent thought, slowly shaping into the kind of posts I love writing. It’s taxing work, but ultimately worth it to look back later, proud of what I put down on paper.

However, though my life’s currently mired in 7-hour meetings and documentation that just won’t quit, my first week of 2015’s been pretty decent, opened with some excellent brunches and promising new relationships and opportunities for the year ahead.

But in these first 7 days, one of the most amazing things to happen was finding a new appreciation for a sport I never much followed before — hockey.

Swiffer x Casey Palmer | The “Man Clean”

“Ain’t nobody dope as me; I’m just so fresh, so clean!”

— OutKast, “So Fresh So Clean”, Stankonia (2000)

This is your house on parenthood.

Following a weekend church retreat to picturesque Muskoka Lakes where Walmer Road Baptist Church’s congregation studied The Word, found peace in tranquil nature, and connected with those they wouldn’t normally chat with otherwise… all was not well in Casa de Palmer.

A restful weekend in the woods it was not for the recently-expanded Palmer family, with new surroundings, smells and sounds driving their infant son to crying fits well into the wee hours of the morning. Sneaking naps in through the weekend while they swapped off on parenting duties, it was all they could do to survive and muster the energy to drive the hours back home to where things made sense.

Karaoke, Cards and a bit of O Canada!

Who needs sleep?

It’s the last day of the year and time to close up shop. Zach survived A Sponsored Life, Sarah begat new life unto the world, and you know what? It’s been a solid year.

How solid, though? These last few posts should tell the tale!

Social Media Week Toronto 2012

Last updated on January 2nd, 2017 at 09:11 pm

If you attended the events at Social Media Week Toronto 2012 (SMWTO for short) you may have seen me around. I was one of the guys with the fancy-looking cameras taking pictures of everything. And I mean everything. I was one of the SMWTO volunteer photographers! We sought out shots that captured the essence of what happens at SMWTO, whether it was a presentation in a boardroom or a pick-up game on the home court of the Toronto Raptors in the Air Canada Centre. (Yeah, you read that right!)

This was the second annual SMWTO, and while I didn’t participate last year, Reggy Sy‘s call for volunteer photographers reached my ears at just the right time! It was a fun week—I tested my gear in various settings, which was great practice for next month’s Big Trip!

It was also a long and challenging week, juggling the 9-5 and arriving on time, but you can judge the results for yourself! (These collections earned about 4,500 collected views the day I posted them.)

Social Media Week Toronto—Because You NEVER Know EVERYTHING.

For me, social media-related events are always interesting. As someone who isn’t from a PR/advertising/marketing background, I’m always learning something new I can take into my personal life and the things that I do as hobbies.

So while I’m happy my hectic week is over, I’m looking forward to the rest of 2012 and the opportunities that pop up when I’m not trying to earn a living!
