I mean, it’s largely because I carry too much stuff, but Murphy’s Law runs true, and the things you lose are often the ones that matter most. Keys. Wallets. Phones. Jewelry. We’re so caught up in our hectic days that it’s easy to lose track of the things we put down. Or notice when something falls out of our pockets. Heck—we could be falling apart and not notice ’til it’s too late.
I mean, it’s 2016 and—thank goodness—we’re able to track our handheld devices just about anywhere on the globe… but why can’t we do that with our other stuff?
Presenting the Tile Mate — Your New Counter to Kleptomaniacs and Absentmindedness Alike!
Built to help protect the things we care about most, Tile’s Tile Mate is a mighty device in a tiny package making it easier to find your valuables when they become woefully misplaced!
tiny speakers that play a loud melody heard even when under piles of laundry or several rooms away;
when you’re too far to hear it, the Tile App remembers your Tile Mate’s last location… even if you don’t;
for those of us prone to misplacing our phones, you can double-click your Tile Mate and make a noise on your phone—even on silent mode;
and my favourite feature—if your Tile Mate’s lost or stolen, you can set your Tile App to notify you when any other Tile gets near it. So the more Tiles people buy, the more chance you find your lost possession! How cool is that?!
December is arguably the most important time of year to be on your A-game. Colder weather aside, we pack more time in with family and friends than we do all year, too busy getting festive to worry about things like sleep and proper diet. It’s fun and all, but everything’s best in moderation, and enough bad behaviour only gets you one place—laid up in bed, wondering how you could’ve prevented this tragedy from happening!
But that, my friends, is putting the cart before the horse. There’s little good to be found from trying to manage a cold after it’s taken hold, which is why COLD-FX® invited me in for Cold and Flu Defence 101 to learn how to prepare for the cold and flu season ahead!
Covering immunity boosting tips, balancing the ever-moving bits of our lives, and what to do when you’re already feeling sick, special guest Candice Sockett, a nurse practitioner, helped explain how COLD-FX® could help set me up for success in a world filled with harmful microbes galore!
My love for Netflix runs deep. It’s on when I work on the blog, it’s on for my date nights… the streaming service’s grown with me, and now my eldest son’s experiencing the same!
One recent offering for your child’s insatiable appetite for content? Netflix’s Beat Bugs—an animated show with singers like P!nk, Aloe Blacc, Eddie Vedder and Sia weaving well-known Beatles songs with uplifting stories and life lessons!
To spread the word about Beat Bugs, Netflix sent its Stream Team members boxes of Beat Bugs swag to film our own “All You Need is Love” music videos, covering the show’s opening theme!
And for me, sinking my teeth ever-deeper into Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, putting something special together was an opportunity I couldn’t resist!
You can check out the Palmers’ take on it right here:
But the buzz doesn’t end there (get it? Bug joke!)—you too can help spread the word, and all you need to do is enter a little contest!
The entire idea of “keepsakes” is drastically different from what it was in our parents’ days.
Back when “limited edition” meant something, you could hold onto baseball cards, Treasure Trolls and comic books and know they’d be valuable—limited supply saw them appreciate with a little care and a lot of patience. But with mass production and the days of collecting memorabilia making way for downloadable content and digital everything, the collections that once stood the test of time don’t hold up like they used to!
But there’s one thing we pass down to our children that’s still in scarce supply no matter how many trends they see come and go in their lives.
I’ve heard it said that driving a car is easy—it’s just everybody else on the road that you need to worry about!
In the three years I’ve driven so far (because once you’ve hit 30, it’s time to start taking adulting seriously), I’ve seen some things. I’ve learned to wish ill upon those who do sudden lane changes with nary an indication, clearly believing their claim to the road stronger than anyone else around them. I’ve learned that even though the streets are crawling with police who’re more than ready to levy hefty fines for distracted driving, there’re still far too many who take the law as a suggestion and not an iron-clad rule, giving us more traffic accidents than one might expect. Though I keep learning things about the ever-shifting rules of the road every time I find myself behind the wheel, I consistently find there’s one thing I’m thankful for above all else—good auto insurance.
Getting the Right Auto Insurance—Or, “Why I Don’t Ask My Banker to do my Acupuncture, or My Butcher to do Landscape My Yard.”
We often take our auto insurance for granted, thinking it something we grab on a whim after buying a car. We don’t get into the weeds of our decision—how much the deductibles are, what our policies cover… we too often choose fairly blindly, relying on inexpert advice from our family and friends to choose the safeguards we’ll rely on when things go south.
But just as I wouldn’t ask my accountant father to take a look in my mouth if I get a sudden toothache, why get insurance advice from people poorly suited to the task when services exist that’re designed to best suit your needs?
isure’s a company precisely fitting that description, an Ontario insurance brokerage that’s focused on getting their clients exactly what they need to live lives as stress-free as they’re supposed to be.
In a country where the weather can change more often than we do our underwear (which I hope is at least daily for y’all out there), there’s plenty to consider when your rubber hits the road. Are you willing to pay more upfront to get more from your insurance when you might need it, or are you looking for accident forgiveness that unfortunate first time things go awry? Or maybe you’re a young driver whose demographic belies just how safe a driver you are, and you’d actually benefit from giving your insurance company more information about your driving habits to lower your rates.
There’s no such thing as “simple” insurance at all.
Which is exactly why isure helps their clients navigate through their insurance policies to avoid potential pitfalls. They write blog posts on ways to save money when choosing an insurance policy. They broker deals with and run comparisons against more than 25 different insurance providers, to make sure their clients get what they need. It’s always the fine print that gets us, so why not have someone in your corner who’ll hold the magnifying glass, making sure you won’t regret it later once you’ve signed on the dotted line?
I guess that’s just my long way of saying: If you don’t know your way around auto insurance, go get someone who does. You can even visit their site to get a free auto insurance quote online, comparing rates to give you the best premiums for what you need!
Better yet, to show that they’re not all talk and no action, isure wants to help you drive away from cookie-cutter auto insurance with a Drive Your Way to Delight giveaway, featuring a $150 Visa gift card for one lucky winner here at the blog! As with all contests here, it’s open to Canadians aged 18+ and living outside of Quebec, and while only a couple of steps are required for entry, there’s plenty you can do to increase your odds of winning—just check out the widget below!
