The 2017 100 — It’s Not WHAT You Do, It’s How You DO It.

Unless my life sees some major changes this year, 2017 may mark the last list of 100!

It’s January 13th—I’ve spent nearly two weeks of my new year agonising over 100 items that matter enough to hit a list of goals and aspirations for the year ahead. And that’s a key difference from the lists that came before it.

Before it was a task list—I’d look around at everything that needed doing and jot it down, because my life would obviously be better with them out of the way.

But task lists aren’t inspiring. They’re not motivational. As a creative, that’s like dropping a pile of 100 things I dread on my lap and nagging myself to get ’em done by the year’s end.

Once I realised what I was doing to myself, so much so that I just went through my least successful year yet for my list, I knew I needed to make a change for 2017.

I’m particularly proud of the list I’ve put together for The 2017 100. I didn’t take any shortcuts—I wrote out 100 things that’d help me live the life I’d like to lead and prove instrumental along the path there. Rather than hurriedly scrawl out a list I’d likely ignore ’til December, I wrote one that I’d happily check off, knowing that each accomplishment would take me a step closer to a far better 2018. I feel like I’m finally getting it right this time, and I hope that shines through as you give it a look for yourself!

But that’s enough of my chatter—I’ve already made you wait long enough. Here for your consideration is The 2017 100—because it’s not what you do… it’s how you do it!

Emma Stone “All I Do Is Win” | Why We’re So Impressed with Her Lip Sync Skills!

Last Updated: October 4, 2020

Though I’ve sadly yet to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Emma’s Stone’s role as Gwen Stacy isn’t the only attention she’s been getting lately.

“It was all good just a week ago.”

— Jay-Z, A Week Ago (featuring Too $hort), The Life and Times of S. Carter, Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life (1998)

Unless you’ve lived under a rock this last bit, you’re likely one of the millions who saw an unexpectedly impressive display from Emma Stone’s appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last week (watch to the end if you know what’s good for you!)

Despite both her songs being technically demanding, requiring speedy syllabic control and a ton of inflexion and lyrical complexity to memorize, Emma performed damn near flawlessly, surprising us with the tongue-twisting outro to Blues Traveler’s “Hook” and Ludacris’ blazing first verse from DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win”!

The question is — why do we love it so much?

Upular: An “Up” Music Video

This is the kind of stuff that one of my local comic shops posts about on its blog – a music video composed almost entirely of sound bytes from the movie “Up”.

It’s called “Upular”. It’s going on my iPod. IMMEDIATELY.

Trust me. It’s awesome.

Rochester aka Juice – A New Day

via revver.com

My jam of the moment: Rochester – “A New Day”. I only heard this song for the first time at a party last night, and I knew I needed to find out more about it.

Reppin’ Toronto’s Islington/Finch intersection, Rochester’s had a bit of acclaim in our community, and with this, I can see why. This song’s just damn addictive. Was hard for me to believe at first that it came from the T-Dot, but you can hear the influences subtly in the undertones of the rhythm.

Listen, support and give props. I’m probably going to hunt this record down this week.
