TurboTax Self-Employed

Last updated on April 21st, 2021 at 11:53 pm

Many of us dream of owning our own businesses, being able to call the shots and feel like we’re working by our own priorities instead of anybody else’s. The idea’s appealing—there’s little in life like getting rewards that measure up to the amount of effort you put in—but you’re sorely mistaken if you expect it to be a cakewalk. You soon discover that owning a business comes with a lot of responsibility—keeping track of expenses. Paying wages. And it all comes to a head around this time each year when we have to account for it all and pay our self-employed taxes. But TurboTax Live Full-Service Self-Employed will help to guide you along the way and give your business the little lift it deserves this tax season.

Taxes Aren’t SUPPOSED to be Fun, but They Don’t Have to be HARD. Enter TurboTax Self-Employed.

Owning a business can seem overwhelming—you suddenly have to do all this stuff on your own that other people or entire departments would do for you if you were an employee. Paying employment insurance and Canada Pension Plan contributions for your employees. Keeping track of your business expenses and knowing which ones apply to your claims and deductions. It really challenges you to be as organised as possible so that tax time’s a smooth transition when you need to make sense of it all.

That said, my tax approach isn’t always the best it could be, but I’ve learned some things from it that I want to help you avoid when preparing your return.

The Mobile Shop | Get Thee to a Mobilist™!

Last updated on April 21st, 2021 at 10:57 pm

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Mobile Shop. All opinions are 100% mine.

You may not appreciate the great phones out there until you see what others can do with theirs. It could be that their phones are good at taking wide-angle photos. Or maybe they rock phones that offer cool augmented reality and 3D photo capabilities. In any case, if you feel stuck with your phone, it may be time to consider a new one.

But how do you choose? If you’re not a tech blogger or don’t obsessively follow news about the latest devices like I do, the number of features and specs out there can be overwhelming.

Which is why you can luckily find someone to do all of the hard work for you.

Welcome to The Mobile Shop.

The Mobilist™—The Smartphone Expert You Didn’t Even Know You Needed!

Allow me to reintroduce you to the Mobilist™—a smartphone expert at The Mobile Shop who can give you the unbiased advice you need to get the phone and plan you want.

Promotions and prices in this photo may no longer be available in store.

That’s the thing about The Mobile Shop—you’re not tied to one kind of phone from one single carrier; you can get your hands on a wide selection of smartphones from major carriers in the same place you get your groceries! And there’s no shortage of places to check them out—found in numerous Loblaws, Fortinos, Zehrs, Atlantic Superstore and Real Canadian Superstore locations across the country; they offer not only great value but the opportunity to earn PC Optimum points on select phones and plans!

And at the centre of it all is the Mobilist™, who can give you advice on the things you might not even think about to make sure that the phone and plan you get are the right ones for you. Like getting the most storage you can on a phone versus unlimited space in the cloud because you’ll just use most of that space for photos. Or maybe you’re looking for more power without overdoing it on size. Whatever the question, there’s a Mobilist™ who can help answer it for you—you just need to take that first step and get thee to The Mobile Shop to make it happen!

LeapFrog LeapStart 3D & VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 Review

Last updated on November 11th, 2020 at 02:06 am

Back when I got ready for school after the summer break, it was flashcards and workbooks to get me back in the swing of things.

I’m about to sound like my Dad, but—these kids don’t know how good they have it!

While I didn’t need to walk miles uphill to and from school or forage through the woods with my bare hands for dinner, technology has come a long way in the last few decades!

There’s so much that can distract my kids now. With so much going on, it can be hard for them to learn the skills they should be learning, like reading, counting, and how to tell time on their own.

But just as the Kidibuzz gave my eldest a taste of what it’s like to have his own phone, VTech/Leapfrog came back with a few more tricks up their sleeves to get your little ones ready for September!

Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute Review

Last updated on April 21st, 2021 at 11:46 pm

You’ll never know how messy your home can get until you have little creatures making themselves comfy in every nook and cranny. Some people have pets. Some, small children. But whichever you have, the same thing’s invariably true—thy create a mess wherever they go. Crumbs. Toys. Spills. Stains. It’s a daily ritual to get on my hands and knees after dinner and clean to keep our kitchen looking presentable.

For context, this is what I got in one clean from a staircase we vacuum EVERY WEEK.

But this need not be my reality—there are far better ways. And that’s what Dyson’s looking to show me with their Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute, the latest in their long line of powerful cord-free vacuums!

Now, this is far from my first Dyson rodeo. We’ve got a Dyson Animal DC 61 in the house; another Dyson v7 Car + Boat in the car; and two fans—a Dyson Pure Cool Link for my house, and a Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Link moderating temperatures in my sister-in-law’s portable where she teaches. Sarah even tried the Dyson Supersonic at one point to see how different it was from the traditional hairdryer!

But we’ve never used a Dyson like this.

PLAYMOBIL Arctic Expedition Headquarters

Last updated on April 27th, 2021 at 01:16 pm

I think it’s time my four-year-old start reviewing his own toys.

I apologise to Swerve PR, but I’ve struggled to write a review of PLAYMOBIL’s Arctic Expedition Headquarters, an elaborate playset designed to get kids’ imaginations running wild. Struggling not because it’s a bad toy—trust me, it’s got more than enough facets and features to go around—but because I’m not the one playing with it!

See, I’m in the business of telling great stories, and stories work best when they’re about things you’ve experienced for yourself. I might acquire the toys—if needed, I’ll even assemble them—but the experience is the boys’ and the boys’ alone… so who better to tell you about it?

It was time to kick the authenticity up another notch.
