The Week That Was March 11th – 17th, 2018

Last updated on March 26th, 2021 at 02:37 pm

There’s no such thing as an overnight success.

Just looking at the week that passed, though I’m constantly updating y’all on my life, there’s sadly so much I can’t talk about. New opportunities. Projects in progress. A whole world of stuff on top of what I’m already putting out there that makes for a very promising 2018 ahead, but learning to be patient and put things out when the time is right is an ongoing lesson.

But all that? That’s future Casey’s problem. Current Casey has a week’s worth of stories to wade through, and he’s glad you’re here to read them!

So strap in, get comfy, and prepare yourself for some stories—it’s the week that was, and boy do I have seven days’ worth to tell you!

“You can’t knock the hustle.”

— Jay-Z, “Can’t Knock the Hustle”, Reasonable Doubt (1996)

The first full week in March’s been all about getting organised.

What 2018’s done for me so far is give me a fiery drive to create—it’s the first time in a very long time I’ve felt like I’ve tangible things I can do to improve my brand instead of continuing to produce just because. I can’t put it out there just yet, but I’m looking back a lot these days as I strengthen my brand’s foundations, really seeing how far this journey’s taken me. It’s one thing when you’re living through each day trying to accomplish as much as possible, but when you lay it all out in one place and give it some perspective, it can be really empowering!

But we’re not here to discuss the things that’re yet to come—with 2018’s tenth week officially in the books, it’s time to review The Week That Was and everything that came with it!

Keepin' Up With Case P—The Week That Was... March 4th—10th, 2018—Casey and Kid Hanging Out at a Jam

So if we don’t already have regular plans pencilled in, it’s very likely you didn’t see hide nor hair from me this week. Save a couple of podcast tapings and giving and receiving career advice, I spent more time keeping house than I did being out and about. (Apologies to Solmaz and the gang at Best Buy Canada that I couldn’t hit up the Home Show this year, but there’s still a long 2018 ahead of us, amirite?)

Here in early 2016, it’s a different kind of hustle than the one we saw closing 2015 out. In that last stretch, there was no end to the work on my plate, keeping me hustling at all hours to keep my blog on point. I had a list of things I wanted to get knocked out of the park before the year’s end, using every free moment I could find to hit my intense deadlines.

Now that it’s January, in some ways things are more relaxed—I mean, sure, any day now I’ll be racing to the hospital to welcome our second child into the world; and though I got a lot done in the weeks that just passed, there’s still plenty of unfinished business that’s followed me into 2016—but I can hack away at my ideas gradually, taking my time to find the truth in my half-formed ramblings, not forcing square pegs into round holes and rush it all.

It’s giving me the time to build foundations, putting all the pieces in place so I can finish 2016 with a bang!

And this week was just another step towards that goal.

Ladies and gentlemen, friends of all ages, sorry for the unexpected lull in activity lately—the site spent the last couple of days overcoming technical woes, which kept me well occupied until we got back to 100%. With that drama sorted, I’ve been back to my tedious ways, chipping away at all sorts of content I’m looking to share with you in the coming year.

But before I hit you with the new stuff, I need to get my house in order first—starting with The Week That Was coming back into regular rotation, my weekly look at what went down in a post full of bite-sized pieces—you know… if I get my act together, anyway.

This week, we focus on the transition into a new year, where if the first few days are any indication, should prove to be nothing short of interesting.

The Week That Was… November 15th – 21st, 2015.

Writing these weekly wrap-ups do more than just help me remember the hijinks I get up to each week—they also keep me well aware of the time that’s trickling through my fingers, and how quickly 2015 will be a foggy memory instead of the current reality. 2016 brings new goals, more family, and while I never know what’s around the corner anymore, I’m sure plenty of opportunities I’d never imagined possible.

Which is all the more reason I need to get this 2015 stuff off of my plate so I can tackle 2016 with a clear head!

Rasslin’ Big Smoke Burger’s “Urban Cowboy” for Hellmann’s Burger Route

The Week That Was... November 15th—21st, 2015—Big Smoke Burger at CF Toronto Eaton Centre—Urban CowboyI happened over Hellmann’s Burger Route by chance while visiting the Village’s Fresh Burger, surprised that I hadn’t heard of an event spanning more than 30 restaurants across the GTA! This simple discovery changed my November lunch hours, taking me places I usually found too far to visit.

This week saw the first trip (of many) down to the CF Toronto Eaton Centre’s Big Smoke Burger to get my grubby man-sized paws on their Urban Cowboy, which I’m pretty sure is the best fast food burger I’ve ever tasted. No lie—this isn’t even sponsored. I went back another two times to get it, knowing it’d likely be unavailable after November. I waited in line for this burger — Casey Palmer don’t wait in no lines. Too bad it’ll likely be gone by the time you read this ?

Farewell, Urban Cowboy—we knew ye well.
