In seven years, you can learn some things. I’ve seen great success in growing this brand, but at the same time developed habits that hold me back. Spreading myself too thin to give my all to any one area. Not finding the time to do better with what I’ve already produced rather than always chase after new leads. You reach a point where you understand what will help your growth and strive to make as much of that happen as possible.
And this move’s just that—putting more of my efforts into the digital home I’ve built myself rather than fritter it elsewhere. This weekly write-up will be more connected, more intentional and more focused than ever before. I’ll spend less time thinking about what to write and more spent learning from what I’ve done—that’s what makes for a better story, right?
So without further ado, let’s get it.
The Week That Was… February 25th – March 3rd, 2018
This Week’s Tweets
Alright, so firstly, if you’re not following me on Twitter, I promise you’re missing out. Here are some of my better-performing tweets from this week, designed to make you laugh, think, or lick the flavour off your screen:
I just discovered a SURPRISING number of people on Twitter who I follow that weren't following back.
Well. I WAS following. Let's keep it real, here. pic.twitter.com/8sL11hxo47

This is what I'm talking about right here. Very few people want to do the real work to create an engaging brand. People see the money and try for the quick wins, but after near a decade of doing this, I've seen many flashes in the pan come and go. https://t.co/nUwEzpcFUi

The Latest on the Blog
Tweets aside, it was a good week for content. Finally having made my way through most of what February had in store, I got two solid pieces out from my Live from the 3.5 project and one that felt very fitting in the midst of Black History Month:
- Live from the 3.5 — Fix Up, Look Sharp — Why Fashion’s So Central to the Black Canadian Experience
- Live from the 3.5 — Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours — Modern Black Love and What it Looks Like
- Quick Clips with Case P #0002 — Beleaf in Fatherhood and the Case for Positive Black Representation
Out and About
And I’m staying true to my commitment to do more than just write, spending some time with peers on their podcasts and taking up public speaking to give everyone something different. I hope to officially launch the podcast later this week because there’s so much to be said about fatherhood, Blackness and more—I just need to get it all in one place!

As far as appearances, my weeks are rarely slow. The Liberal Caucus’ Black History Month event. Fujifilm Canada’s launch of the X-H1 mirrorless camera. Out to the Library Bar at the Fairmont Royal York for some delicious cocktails and chowder in the company of some of my Canadian #BiSC-uit family. And of course, the premiere of Sharon Lewis’ Caribbean-Canadian sci-fi feature film Brown Girl Begins, still showing at the Cineplex Yonge-Dundas theatre ’til March 8th! Check out some of what went down below!

If you've been around a while, you may remember that time just under five years ago when I decided to go to Vegas on the advice on my good friend @simone_paget. For a couple of years by then, she'd told me about this blogger unconference called #BiSC — Bloggers in Sin City — and wanted me to give it a shot. (Which, in retrospect, offers a number of parallels with what it took for @dadcamp.ca and @canadiandadblog to get me out to my first #Dad2Summit, but I digress.) So in #BiSC's last year, I finally listened, and 2013's unconference changed my very IDEA of community! It had me bare my soul, rethink my path and connect with others in ways we just didn't do in #Toronto's party scene. Simone was 100% right, and now I'm connected to others who I love visiting with whenever the opportunity's there. Which is why it was super fun to hang with @jenbetweendots while she was in town for a conference, and @tomfromhr who I never see though we're two cities apart… but we're working on that. It was a speedrun of a meet, but tearing down the walls and reconnecting was just the food my soul needed! Thanks so much for the time, guys, and thanks to @nic.antoinette for creating this #BiSC legacy — #BiSC-uits for life! #friends #out #drinks #RoyalYork #afterwork #30s #hotel @fairmontroyalyork @librarybar.to

Life in Casa de Palmer
But yeah, that was my week! We even have a bunch going on at home—I mean, who doesn’t with two boys under five—but when I’m not writing comprehensive lists of what I’m looking to accomplish as a content creator this year, I’m entertaining my kids—or rather, they’re entertaining me. You can check out some of my older kid’s antics below!
Sarah to Casey: “Would you like some wine or something?”
The kiddo: “No thanks.”

Dear @416company, My four-year-old's stolen my limited edition 416™ New Era 59Fifty fitted and won't give it back. I know he looks fly, but do you have any advice on getting in back? Thanks. We don’t do slow weeks up in here, but a lot gets lost in the shuffle! I hope this round-up gives you an idea of what’s been up in my world!
What’s going on in yours?
Thanks as always for supporting, and ’til the next, I remain,
