First off, a massive shout-out to Laura Fuentes from MOMables for the inspiration to move my weekly newsletter from everyone’s email to my blog.

In seven years, you can learn some things. I’ve seen great success in growing this brand, but at the same time developed habits that hold me back. Spreading myself too thin to give my all to any one area. Not finding the time to do better with what I’ve already produced rather than always chase after new leads. You reach a point where you understand what will help your growth and strive to make as much of that happen as possible.
And this move’s just that—putting more of my efforts into the digital home I’ve built myself rather than fritter it elsewhere. This weekly write-up will be more connected, more intentional and more focused than ever before. I’ll spend less time thinking about what to write and more spent learning from what I’ve done—that’s what makes for a better story, right?
So without further ado, let’s get it.
The Week That Was… February 25th—March 3rd, 2018
This Week’s Tweets
Alright, so firstly, if you’re not following me on Twitter, I promise you’re missing out. Here are some of my better-performing tweets from this week, designed to make you laugh, think, or lick the flavour off your screen:
The Latest on the Blog
Tweets aside, it was a good week for content. Finally having made my way through most of what February had in store, I got two solid pieces out from my Live from the 3.5 project and one that felt very fitting in the midst of Black History Month:
- Live from the 3.5—Fix Up, Look Sharp—Why Fashion’s So Central to the Black Canadian Experience
- Quick Clips with Case P #0002—Beleaf in Fatherhood and the Case for Positive Black Representation
Out and About
And I’m staying true to my commitment to do more than just write, spending some time with peers on their podcasts and taking up public speaking to give everyone something different. I hope to officially launch the podcast later this week because there’s so much to be said about fatherhood, Blackness and more—I just need to get it all in one place!
As far as appearances, my weeks are rarely slow. The Liberal Caucus’ Black History Month event. Fujifilm Canada’s launch of the X-H1 mirrorless camera. Out to the Library Bar at the Fairmont Royal York for some delicious cocktails and chowder in the company of some of my Canadian #BiSC-uit family. And of course, the premiere of Sharon Lewis’ Caribbean-Canadian sci-fi feature film Brown Girl Begins, still showing at the Cineplex Yonge-Dundas theatre ’til March 8th! Check out some of what went down below!
Life in Casa de Palmer
But yeah, that was my week! We even have a bunch going on at home—I mean, who doesn’t with two boys under five—but when I’m not writing comprehensive lists of what I’m looking to accomplish as a content creator this year, I’m entertaining my kids—or rather, they’re entertaining me. You can check out some of my older kid’s antics below!
Sarah to Casey: “Would you like some wine or something?”
The kiddo: “No thanks.”
Casey and Sarah:Â ????
We don’t do slow weeks up in here, but a lot gets lost in the shuffle! I hope this round-up gives you an idea of what’s been up in my world!
What’s going on in yours?
Thanks as always for supporting, and ’til the next, I remain,

woohoo I got a newsletter. I love it. Very busy life sir. I follow on all platforms (as you know). Glad to see you are all doing well. As for the cap. Let it go. He owns it now. The moment you posted a picture it was his. Possession is 9/10’s of the law after all 🙂
LOL — Jo, what if I told you the company was sending me another one…? ?
omg lol that is awesome I am impressed. I was going to suggest doing a poll on who wears it better.. let’s not do that lol
I anticipate a photo of the two of us side-by-side, but I’m hoping I’m raising kids who wear everything better than their Dad does — and I’d like to think that sets a pretty high bar ?
